With a history of funny looking hats and wooden shoes who would have thought that the Dutch of all people would be the leaders in designer home PC’s. Well Dutch company Nexus Technology is looking to break the stereotype by trying to become the leader in home PC fashion.
Their new line of Psile living room PC cases is creating quite a buzz on the net. According to the website the new cases are small, fashionable and quiet perfect for a living room PC. Below are some details about the product.
The case is built around one layer aluminum heatsink to provide cooling
surface for the hard disk and other components. And the cover of the case
is fully fitted with highly efficient noise absorption material to get rid
of any unwanted sounds.
The Psile case is constructed out of 0.16 inch aluminum and the surface
has been given a sand-spray finish. The top cover is plastic and painted
with the finest DuPont paint for a strong and warm glossy finish. The two
materials blend in perfectly in the cube-shaped case of size 8.87×8.87×7.53
inch.
Customers can visit the company web site here and design their own cases via a nice little flash interface. Looks pretty promising, now if we could just get rid of those wooden shoes.

How many times have you been in a dark alley trying to hire an escort looking for a contact lens and found yourself without a pocket flashlight?
Well Brite-Strike Technologies has released a new line of military spec flashlights to the market that will service all of your covert op’s needs. The great thing about these flashlights is they can also be used as a defense against all those creatures that go bump in the night.
When set to high, these flashlights emit an extraordinarily brilliant light that can momentarily blind and disorient an attacker. When set to low, these flashlights can be used for regular use without the dark spots of standard flashlights because of its faceted machined aluminum reflector that produces its flawless beam.
The casing of the Brite-Strike is milled from a solid bar of aircraft grade aluminum with a super hard anodized finish that exceeds mil spec class III, which makes it hard as nails. Featuring a specially designed front and rear tri-strike-crown, this flashlight can be used for maximum impact on pressure points while using self defense techniques.
There you have it! A veritable cornucopia of kickassery as well as luminescence. You can snag your MacGuyver copy of this bad boy here.

Texas Instruments annouced today (no not a new calculator), the new .98 DLP Cinema chip. The .98 chip is used in digital movie projectors throughout the country and allows for a much larger display size as well as more power. This is good news for all of us who still enjoy going to the movies, because it’s helping to promote the switch to digital projectors.
DLP Cinema adoption increased by over 350% globally through 2006 with
both new commercial screens and major studio offerings. Currently 3,334
screens in commercial theaters worldwide are DLP Cinema equipped and more
than 100 films were released in digital format last year.
If you’re wondering what is out there now in terms of DLP cinemas, here is a list. I’ll see you at the next showing of 300.

If you’re anything like me you have always thought of in car TV/DVD players as some what of a novelty. I mean sure they are useful when you go on a long road trip and want to bring along a DVD to watch, but for those shorter rides it’s more of a hassle then a help. The problem is that you’re limited to your own DVD library.
Well the company WI-FI TV is looking to change all of that by attempting to integrate their existing WI-FI TV technology into cars and cell phones. Currently WI-FI has a Web site set up so that users can upload videos and watch existing stations through their computer. Kind of like a Youtube with the added feature of stations.
The site itself is relatively new and doesn’t provide many details yet, but it’s nice to know that we are moving in the right direction.

By now everyone has heard of the game Second Life or as I affectionately like to call it, “the game that isn’t Warcraft.” Ok, ok, I relent…some of you out there may like it. It does have some “unique” features like being able to privately own in game property. Indeed the games motto from the start was to allow the user to completely immerse themselves in a virtual world. Well it just got more real.
Starting March 6, Second Life will begin beta testing a new integrated voice chat which will allow the user to communicate with their fellow Second Lifians in their own voice. This new chat feature will have two settings, personal voice chat, allowing anyone in the vicinity to hear the conversation, and also group voice chat, allowing only designated players to hear the person’s voice.
Players who currently pay the $295 monthly maintenance fee (should get their head examined) will not have to fork over any more cash to have this feature installed on their properties. However those players that have been grandfathered in with lower fees may be required to upgrade.
Sounds like we are one step closer to jacking into the matrix. Just make sure you all make it back to Zion in time for dinner.

The company Turtle Beach has announced today its new specialized headphones for the DS Lite, the Turtle Beach Ear Force D2. Along with a high quality microphone attachment for DS chat these headphones sport the following features:
Hear every bleep, blip and bark from your game in full stereo sound.
Adjustable microphone makes it easy to speak or sing (if you’re a fruit) when playing interactive games.
Designed for hours of comfortable play on your DS or DS Lite.
Play on the road or at home - without the world hearing you.
These babies will set you back around $19.95 and are available at your local Best Buy.
I guess I can see how the microphone might come in handy (if you like singing your DS to sleep) but why can’t I just use my regular old headphones again…oh wait…I can.

File this in the category of “desperate ideas,” Sony is hoping that their Australian launch of the PS3 (due on March 23rd for all your aussies) will go over a bit more smoothly if they give away a Blue-ray Disc version of Casino Royale, for the first 20,000 Australian buyers. I wonder if they will hit 20,000 buyers before I see it in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart for $1.99.
Sony has already offered similar deals to American and Japanese customers with their offer of free downloads of the GranTurismo PS3 game, as well as a copy of Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Apparently Sony doesn’t think Australians have a sense of humor.
Sounds like yet another crappy idea from the company that brought us the PSP - AKA the gaming machine that claims to do everything but really does nothing, and the PS3 - AKA the 600 dollar paperweight.

Up until recently water and iPods have been far from friends. But the company Swimman is looking to change all of that with their new iPod Shuffle that is fully waterproof! The company 100% guarantees that the iPod and headphones are waterproof in up to 10 feet of water (sorry all you diver fans you will have to stick with the jukebox in your head for now).
The water ready iPods go for about $150, which is about $70 dollars more then the regular one you would buy off the Apple website. The deluxe package which includes waterproof, in-ear earphones costs around $250. Wow for a hundred bucks those baby’s better get me a date for Saturday night!
Sounds like a good idea but a little too steep for the luxury of using them in water. I think I’ll just stick to the sands for a while.
